OIL FURNACE TROUBLESHOOTING
Oil Furnace will not start

Q. Help! I ran out of oil yesterday, I got a delivery this morning but the furnace won’t start.

A.

When you ran out of oil your oil burner probably sucked in some of the sludge that occasionally settles into the bottom of the oil tank. The oil burner actually pumps oil to itself and sludge was probably sucked into the oil line. This sludge can clog the oil filter and the oil burner nozzle. You should call your oil company for service, have them replace the oil filter and clean the nozzle.
