ACTIVE SOLAR HEATING
Active Solar Storage

Storage is the key to a successful solar heating system. When air is used as a medium, the rock storage bin was established as an inexpensive yet effective method of storing the extra heat produced on clear sunny days.

The storage bin should be sized in proportion to the collector area. One cubic feet of storage for every two square feet of collector.

A cube is the preferd shape of a storage bin, and the height should be kept under seven feet.
